The Mills Grill

Along the Little Mississippi River in McArthurs Mills, Ontario

Founded in 1896, this little hamlet was named after the first settler, Archibald McArthur Jr., who was also the first postmaster in the area stretching from Bancroft to the Little Mississippi and not long after all the way to Denbigh. Here, he and his family erected the first wood saw mill supporting the areas booming logging industry and grain grinding mill powered by the beautiful falls which remain a postmark of our quaint little hamlet. The McArthur family also constructed the first bridge connecting the throughway on what is now highway 28 to Denbigh.

Today this thriving little hamlet is a the center of a wider community with a country store acting as the hub. Owned by Tracey and Corwin Cunningham the Cunningham General Store supplies the local community and surrounding areas including travelers passing through with fuel, food, and of course from May to October; the Mills Grill.

The Mills Grill itself is a small, non-permanent food trailer nestled between the Cunningham General Store and the Mississippi River. Also owned by Tracey and Corwin Cunningham; its a central part of the community’s leisure time. Only a stone throw away from a community swimming hole at the feet of some very picturesque waterfalls, The Mills Grill has more to offer than just great food. Come and picnic at one of our many seating areas along the river. Great fishing and canoeing along, what might be, the most breath taking river in Eastern Ontario.

Come Enjoy everything this little hamlet has to offer and while you’re at it – come see us at The Mills Grill.
